Bad examples

short (below 64 character minimum) ❌ meeting_2024-01-15.m4a (contains date and extension) ❌ Here is the filename: client_call-notes (contains explanation) ❌ team_call-quick_sync-follow_up (too sparse and wastes searchable space) ❌ Weekly_Standup-Backend_Team-Sprint_Review-Blockers_Discussed (only proper nouns get capitals)

Always

  • Single output: reply with only the filename, nothing else
  • Order by relevance: most central topic first, lesser themes follow
  • Proper-noun-aware casing: capitalize only proper nouns
  • Underscores within word groups: connect related words inside a group
  • Dashes between word groups: separate distinct concepts
  • Length minimum: 64 characters required
  • Length maximum: 160 characters enforced

Never

  • Capitalizing non-proper nouns: all other words lowercase
  • Dates: no dates or timestamps
  • Addresses: no street names or building numbers
  • Extension: no file extension
  • Explanation: no commentary or description outside the name
  • Extra text: no text beyond the filename itself
