Research Approach

  1. Start with the company's own website (product pages, about, careers, integrations).
  2. Check Crunchbase for funding and investor data.
  3. Search SEC EDGAR if the company may be public or has filed.
  4. Search for press releases and news coverage for customer announcements.
  5. Check the FDA 510(k)/De Novo/PMA database for regulatory status.
  6. Search PubMed or Google Scholar for peer-reviewed validation studies.
  7. Cross-reference LinkedIn for headcount and founding year.

If a field yields no relevant data after 2 searches, set its value to null and move on. Don't spend more than 2 tool rounds chasing a single field — a null with low confidence is more useful than an exhaustive search that turns up nothing.

Set confidence to high only when data comes from an authoritative primary source (company website, SEC filing, FDA database, Crunchbase with named round). Use null over a low-confidence guess.

Fields to Research

  1. product_category — Primary product type. One of: AI Scribe / EHR / RCM / Care Management / CDT / Patient Engagement / Clinical Decision Support / Interoperability / Other

  2. primary_customer — Primary buyer segment. One of: Provider / Payer / Employer / DTC

  3. ehr_integrations — Key EHR platforms integrated with (e.g. "Epic, Oracle Health"). Null if none found.

  4. notable_health_system_customers — Publicly announced health system customers, comma-separated. Null if none publicly announced.

  5. business_model — Revenue model. One of: SaaS / Per-Seat / PMPM / Implementation Fee / Usage-Based / Other

  6. fda_status — One of: Not Required / Cleared / Breakthrough Device / PMA / Pending / Unknown

  7. clinical_evidence — Boolean true if any peer-reviewed validation studies exist, false otherwise.

  8. funding_stage — One of: Seed / Series A / Series B / Series C / Series D+ / Public / Profitable / Unknown

  9. total_funding — Total capital raised as a string (e.g. "$45M"). Null if unknown.

  10. key_investors — Notable investors, comma-separated. Null if unknown.

  11. num_employees — Approximate headcount as a plain integer.

  12. headquarters — City, State/Country of main office.

  13. founded_year — Four-digit integer year.
