Soft Skill — Luxury UI Aesthetic
When to use
When the product targets professionals or handles money (fintech, invoicing, consulting dashboards). The goal is to communicate trust and premium quality through visual restraint.
Visual characteristics
- Fonts: Inter, Satoshi, or similar geometric sans-serifs. Weight 400-500 for body, 600 for headings.
- Whitespace: Generous. 32px+ padding in cards. 80px+ between sections. Let the content breathe.
- Depth: Subtle box shadows (0 1px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.08)). No harsh drop shadows.
- Borders: 1px solid with low opacity (rgba(0,0,0,0.06)). Never use dark borders.
- Border radius: 12-16px for cards, 8px for inputs, 20px+ for pills/badges.
- Colors: Muted, low saturation palette. Avoid vibrant primaries. Use gray-blue or gray-green tints.
Animation
- Spring-based animations for modals and drawers (slight overshoot, then settle)
- Hover: subtle elevation (shadow increase) + scale(1.01)
- Transitions: 250-350ms with ease-out
- Page transitions: fade between routes (150ms)
Components
- Cards: White/off-white background, subtle shadow, generous padding, rounded corners
- Buttons: Solid primary (muted), ghost secondary. Medium border radius. No gradients.
- Inputs: Large (48px height), subtle border, generous internal padding
- Tables: No visible grid lines. Use alternating row background (very subtle) or spacing between rows.
