🚀 Getting Started with claudetop on Windows
Follow these steps to get claudetop up and running on your Windows PC.
1. Visit the download page
Click this big button to go directly to the download page:

2. Download the Windows version
On the releases page, look for the latest release. Releases are shown with version numbers and dates.
- Find the file named something like
claudetop-windows.exeor similar. - Click the file to start downloading it to your PC.
Save it in a folder where you can find it later, like your Downloads folder or your Desktop.
3. Run the claudetop application
After downloading:
- Open the folder where you saved the
.exefile. - Double-click the file named
claudetop-windows.exe.
Windows might show a security prompt the first time you run an app from the Internet. Choose Run or More info > Run anyway to start it.
When claudetop opens, you will see a command-line window showing live updates about your Claude Code sessions.
4. Using claudetop
Once claudetop is running, it will automatically connect to your Claude Code sessions and display details like:
- Cost updates that change in real time
- Percentage of cache used and how efficient it is
- A comparison table of different Claude models based on current activity
- Alerts if costs spike or if the cache needs attention
You do not need to type commands to see this. claudetop updates automatically.
5. Closing claudetop
To close claudetop, simply click the close (X) button on the command window or press Ctrl + C on your keyboard.

- You can resize the command window to see more details.
- Use keyboard shortcuts inside the app to switch between different views:
- Press 1 to view cost details.
- Press 2 for cache efficiency.

🛠 Troubleshooting common issues
claudetop does not open after double-click
- Check that you downloaded the correct
.exefile for Windows. - Make sure your PC meets the minimum Windows version and RAM requirements.
- Try running the app as Administrator by right-clicking and choosing "Run as administrator."
claudetop shows no data or errors
- Confirm that you are running a Claude Code session in the background.
