📋 What is claude-recall?

🚀 Getting Started

This guide will help you download, install, and run claude-recall on Windows.

🔗 Step 1: Download claude-recall

On that page, find the latest version for Windows. It is usually named something like claude-recall-setup.exe.

📥 Step 2: Install claude-recall

  1. Open the downloaded file. Usually, it will be in your Downloads folder.
  2. When the installer opens, follow the on-screen instructions:
    • Click Next.
    • Choose the folder where you want to install the program or use the suggested location.
    • Click Install.
  3. Wait a few moments while the program installs.
  4. When the process finishes, click Finish.

⚙️ Step 3: Run claude-recall

You can now run the program:

  • Find claude-recall in your Start menu.
  • Click it to open.
  • The program starts and works without needing more setup.

You will see a simple window or icon in your system tray showing it is active.

🔄 How claude-recall works

claude-recall watches your Claude Code workflows. When it notices a repeating pattern, it saves it as a skill.

You can then reuse these skills automatically. This saves you from redoing the same steps each time.

🔧 How to update claude-recall

To get the latest features and fixes:

  1. Visit the releases page again here:

  2. Download the newest installer version.
  3. Run the installer to replace your current version.
  4. Your existing skills and settings will stay safe.

❓ Troubleshooting

If claude-recall does not start or work as expected:

  • Check that your Windows version is supported.
  • Restart your computer after installation.
  • Make sure your antivirus or firewall is not blocking the program.
  • Try running the program as an administrator:
    • Right-click the claude-recall icon.
    • Select Run as administrator.
  • Visit the GitHub page to see known issues.

📂 Where does claude-recall store data?

By default, claude-recall stores your skills and workflow data in a folder inside your user directory:

C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\claude-recall

You do not need to access this folder directly unless you want to back up or move your skills.

🔄 Using the command line interface (optional)

If you want more control or want to integrate claude-recall with other tools, you can use its CLI options:

  • To list saved skills:
    claude-recall --list

  • To run a skill by name:
    claude-recall --run <skill-name>

  • To get help and see all commands:
    claude-recall --help

You do not need to use the CLI to benefit from the tool.

claude-recall works entirely on your local machine. It does not send your data to any external servers. Your workflows stay private and secure.
